Definition of the Self-Protected Transformer Self-protected transformers (as per specification HN 52 S-24) were developed to enhance the safety of people, property and the environment, through their protection-disconnection functions. Thanks to this technology, all external evidence of transformer dysfunction is eliminated (leaks, explosions, etc). Self-protected transformers also guarantee service continuity by reducing disturbances in the HV network (by acting as a breaker on the upstream side of the source substation). |
